Sanctuary Group, one of the UK’s leading housing associations, has restructured its Finance department to meet the growing needs of the business. There are now two distinct streams - Financial Control and Financial Planning and Analysis - both based at their Worcester head office.
Jim Stockton has been appointed to the new position of Group financial controller and Nathan Warren to the role of head of financial planning and analysis.
Jim will be responsible for strengthening financial control within the Group as well as accelerating the pace of integrating new subsidiaries. He will head up a team of 50 staff at Sanctuary’s head office and a further 15 within Beth Johnson Housing Association.
Jim, a qualified accountant who joined Stoke-based Beth Johnson as director of finance and corporate services in 2004, said: “I am excited about my new position at an extremely interesting time in the organisation’s development. There is huge opportunity for the Group not only to become one of the largest social housing providers but also the most efficient and well managed."
As head of financial planning and analysis, Nathan is leading a team of 15 professionals in Worcester. He is responsible for assisting the business in making decisions with respect to potential development opportunities for the Group.
Nathan is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and recently gained his MBA from the University of Warwick. He held positions at Rolls-Royce, Grant Thornton LLP and Devonport Management Ltd before joining Sanctuary as corporate finance manager in 2005.
He said: “I believe the creation of this team will allow Sanctuary to better monitor and mitigate business risk, and drive commercial efficiency and best practice across the Group.”
In Jim’s spare time he referees rugby union fixtures throughout the North West and remains an avid fan having spent 30 years playing the game.
Nathan is married with two children, Luke and Grace, and is a long suffering supporter of Derby County Football Club.
