Homes at Hyde Park Walk and Terrace in Sheffield have now officially been transferred to Sanctuary Housing Association.
Sheffield City Council balloted 170 tenants from the estate in February and an overwhelming number of tenants that voted – 75 per cent – supported the proposals. The turnout was the highest ever for a stock transfer in Sheffield with almost 80 per cent of residents casting their vote.
The 136 two and three bedroom flats which overlook the city centre will continue to be managed by the Alpha Tenant Management Co-operative, who formerly operated on behalf of Sheffield City Council.
Brian Manning, Chair of Alpha, said: "I would like to thank Sanctuary, the Association for Community Empowerment and Sheffield City Council for all their efforts in bringing about this new opportunity for our estate.
“Those involved have put in a lot of hard work and we fully expect that this move will be of substantial benefit to all tenants of Hyde Park over the coming years. We look forward to working closely with Sanctuary to bring about improvements not only to the properties but also to the services we provide. We are certain this is the start of a long and happy relationship."
