’s Ardler regeneration scheme has scooped its third major award, taking the title of ‘Regeneration Project of the Year’ at the Mail on Sunday British Homes Awards on Thursday 31st May.
The new awards programme, sponsored by the National Homes Building Council, has been created to recognise design excellence.
The multi-million pound regeneration scheme at Ardler Village has already won the British Urban Regeneration Association’s (BURA) award for best practice in the field, and a prestigious Scottish Quality in Planning Award.
Sanctuary Scotland began its seven-year redevelopment project in 2001 to modernise the Ardler estate in partnership with Dundee City Council and Communities Scotland. The majority of the former council properties were demolished and replaced with high quality low rise homes and retail and community facilities.
Working in partnership with residents, the area has been completely transformed and Ardler is now a thriving community where people want to live and work. Community involvement continues through the work of the Ardler Village Trust – a community group that promotes social and economic regeneration in the area.
