Hyde Park residents visit Sanctuary show home

Residents from Sheffield’s Hyde Park estate recently visited a Sanctuary Housing Association show home to see what improvements could be made if they vote to transfer to Sanctuary.

The group of residents from Hyde Park Walk and Terrace accepted an open invitation from Sanctuary to tour the Shiregreen estate home and see work that would be carried out on their homes.

They also met residents from Shiregreen whose homes are currently being improved by Sanctuary. In November last year, Sheffield City Council balloted 2,600 tenants from the estate and 71 per cent of them turned out to vote. 86 per cent of voters were in favour of transfer and Sanctuary began a £91 million regeneration project of the area soon after.

Residents in Sheffield view a show home and see what improvements could be made if they vote to transfer to Sanctuary.

Maureen Tandy, who lives at Hyde Park, said: “The show home was lovely and it would be marvellous to think we could have improvements like these in the next few years. I like the fact that we have a choice of kitchen units."

Hyde Park is currently run by Alpha Tenant Management Co-op who manage the properties on behalf of Sheffield City Council. The co-op are seeking a transfer to Sanctuary as they believe this is the best way of securing current and future investment in their homes. Tenants have now received their offer document and will vote on the transfer early in the New Year.

Toni Mosley, Head of Regeneration for Sanctuary in South Yorkshire, said: “We hope that the residents of Hyde Park enjoyed their visit and found it informative. They have now seen first-hand what Sanctuary will offer them if they vote yes.”
