Kind-hearted staff of the former Banbury Homes housing association (now Charter Community Housing) have presented nearby Katharine House Hospice with £1,115 following a fundraising drive.
Prior to Banbury Homes joining forces with Charter Community Housing - both subsidiaries of one of the UK’s leading housing associations, Sanctuary Group – on April 1, the customer service team and administration staff held a number of fundraising events, which included raffles, cake and coffee mornings and a staff party.
The money will be used for the ongoing care of patients and their families at the hospice, in Aynho Road, Adderbury, Banbury.
The trio behind the fundraising drive, admin team leader Dawn Wragg, administrator Linda Quickenden and lettings and empty properties officer Ann Gameson, were delighted to push the funds beyond the £1,000 mark.
Linda said: “We are all Banbury based people and the hospice is definitely close to our hearts.”
Dawn added: “Over the years our staff have fundraised for several charities within the Banbury area.
“Katharine House hospice was chosen due to the local connection and the wonderful service it provides.
“Many local people know of a relative or friend who has received the loving care and support from the hospice staff.“
A spokesperson for the hospice said: “This year it will cost £1.9 million to provide the hospice care and £1.3 million will need to be raised from voluntary donations towards this. The contribution from Banbury Homes is, therefore, very much appreciated.”
