New children’s play park opened on the Ardler Estate

Opening new play park

Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association, a member of Sanctuary Group, held a celebratory event on Tuesday, 23rd June, to mark the official opening of a new play park on the Ardler Estate in Dundee.

Joint funded by Sanctuary and The Scottish Government’s Fairer Scotland Fund (FSF), the new park will provide play facilities for children aged five years and under, and has been created as a result of the increase in family housing in Ardler.

A consultation process for the new play park was held with residents at the Ardler Fun Day in 2008 and equipment chosen includes a slide and climbing area.

"We are delighted this new park will offer them a safe place to play.”

Tuesday’s event saw the official opening of the park with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Bette Gurvan, Chair of the Tenants and Residents of Ardler (TARA), with three-year-old resident Brendan Gordon, before local children from Ardler and St Fergus RC Primary Schools were invited to enjoy the facilities.

Ann Forbes, Sanctuary Scotland housing manager, said: “With the increase in affordable housing throughout Ardler we realised the importance of providing something for the young children and we are delighted this new park will offer them a safe place to play.”
