Running in the name of charity

Sanctuary staff put their best feet forward over the weekend (June 20th - 21st) to raise money for Cancer Research UK in the charity’s Relay for Life.

Eight employees from the Group’s Stoke-on-Trent office were joined by family and friends as they walked and ran around a 400 metre track at Northwood Stadium, Stoke, over a 24-hour period.

Starting at 12noon on Saturday, June 20th, and finishing at 12noon on Sunday, June 21st, the Relay for Life involves one member of the team making their way around the track at all times during the 24 hours in order to complete the challenge.

"We are pleased to join so many others in raising the profile of this charity"

Team members ranged from four to 65 years of age, and after covering a distance of approximately 468 miles, their efforts helped to raise an incredible £1,000 for this worthy cause.

It is the tenth successive year Sanctuary staff have joined together to enter the event and in the last four years alone they have raised in excess of £7,000.

Carol Edwards, Sanctuary reinvestment manager, said: “We are pleased to join so many others in raising the profile of this charity and helping raise money that can contribute towards vital cancer research work.”
