Sanctuary Housing Association assigned "A1" and "A" ratings

Sanctuary Housing Association today announced A1 and A credit ratings from Moody’s and Standard and Poor’s. Both agencies cited Sanctuary’s outlook as stable.

"The ratings on Sanctuary reflect its strong operating and financial performance, good asset quality and strong net coverage ratios relative to those generally seen in the sector. Due to Sanctuary's experienced and competent management team, which has led the Association through a period of extensive growth, this robust performance is expected to continue," said Standard and Poor's.

"Sanctuary is one of the few English social housing
providers to boast a truly nationwide presence"

“The rating reflects the Group's strong financial position, its geographic distribution, stable and experienced management team and the well-regulated environment in which Registered Social Landlords operate. Moody's views the Group's well-diversified asset stock as a key credit strength. Sanctuary is one of the few English social housing providers to boast a truly nationwide presence,” reported Moody’s.

David Bennett, Managing Director of Sanctuary, said today, “These are some of the highest ratings achieved in the UK housing sector. They are a reflection on the commitment of the entire Sanctuary team and a clear acknowledgement that we have built a robust, successful and valuable business.

We first took a Standard and Poor’s rating in [1994] and understood we were the first Housing Association to be given a formal credit rating. In [2002] we took a Moody’s rating. The high quality ratings we have achieved further reinforce our reputation with capital providers, especially with regard to future fund raising.”
