The Ashgrove unit has been specially renovated into a self-contained ten bedroom unit with a communal lounge and dining facilities, catering for both men and women over the age of 65 in a welcoming yet safe environment.
Around 40 guests including local GPs and district nurses and representatives from charities such as Age Concern and Alzheimer’s Society were given a tour of the Ashgrove. They saw the lounge area and bedrooms which are decorated in accordance with dementia guidelines and the newly landscaped gardens with a patio where residents can sit and chat with friends and family.
They then enjoyed a lovely buffet made by Cater Plus Services, who work closely with Sanctuary Care to create visual menus for residents, with pictures and illustrations of ingredients that are in each meal.
Forest Dene acting manager Juliette Oates said: “Forest Dene has always provided excellent care, now with the expertise and financial backing of Sanctuary, we are able to offer dementia care for ten residents in a beautiful and stimulating environment.”
