Sanctuary Housing Group has responded to Worcester Samaritans’ plea for funds to install a new 21st century telephone system at their branch.
The national charity, founded in 1953, handles five million calls, e-mails, letters and face-to-face contacts annually. The overall number of contacts at Worcester Samaritans rose 24 per cent during 2006 to 17,496. An e-mail service is already in place and the charity is currently piloting text messaging but an upgraded telephone system would enable Worcester Samaritans to effectively link these facilities.
