Sanctuary Supports Ramadan

Sanctuary Housing Association is supporting local Muslims by contributing to the daily Iftar (the opening of the fast) as part of its commitment towards engaging and working with the Ocean community.

Over one billion Muslims throughout the world have been fasting as part of the five Islamic duties they must perform and Muslims living on the Ocean Estate are no different. Ramadan started on Tuesday 4th October and will last for 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of the new moon. The end of Ramadan is marked by the celebration of Eid where Muslims rejoice the festive event with their families.

Sanctuary Housing Association is keen to understand and work with the cultural diversity of tenants on the Ocean Estate.

Nazim Rahman, Senior Regeneration Officer at Sanctuary, said: “We appreciate and recognize what the Holy month of Ramadan means to members of the Muslim faith the world over. Here on the Ocean Estate, where we are based, we can see how important it is at a local level for the Muslims in our community.”
