David Blunkett MP paid a visit to Sanctuary Housing’s new show home at Shiregreen, Sheffield last Saturday and discovered that one of the guests - show home neighbour, Tracey Gold - was also his next-door neighbour when they were children.
Mrs Tracey Gold, accompanied by her daughter Hannah, was one of a number of residents who were there to meet Mr Blunkett and find out what their homes could look like if the stock transfer goes ahead.
Residents toured the house and were very impressed by what they saw. Said Mrs Gold: “The changes to the show home are just fantastic. You wouldn’t recognise it from how it was a couple of months ago.”
Mr Blunkett, who is also Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, was able to hear first hand about the dramatic transformation that has taken place at 26 Concord Road, the site of the new show home, which has been completely modernised. Tenants are now able to see exactly what options will be available to them if Sanctuary is selected through a positive ballot.
The show home, which is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm, has been completely renovated. A new kitchen, bathroom, internal and external doors, wiring and energy efficient heating systems are just some of the improvements tenants could expect to see in their homes should the transfer go ahead.
