Saturday 8th March marks International Women’s Day and is a chance to celebrate the achievements and strength of women from all walks of life.
Inside Housing, trade journal, recently asked the largest social landlords how many women they employ and the percentage in management positions. The results show the sector is struggling to get enough women to the top, however, organisations such as Sanctuary demonstrate that it can be done and indeed ranks near the top of their league table.
Within Sanctuary Group half its senior management and 57 per cent of its board are female.

Lisa Bek, Director of Sanctuary Management Services was interviewed by Inside Housing and explained how supportive Sanctuary had been to her: “Sanctuary offers lots of practical support such as job sharing and flexible and part-time working. I have two young children and worked three days a week after maternity leave. This built up to four days before returning to full time employment.
“The organisation also has a general ethos of trying to develop people’s potential.”
