Ashley House is a registered care home offering residential care for 34 frail, elderly people, both male and female, in a comfortable modern setting. Each service user has their own room, with en suite facilities.

Ashley House is registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate to provide residential care for 34 people aged 65 or over. The scheme is not registered as a nursing home.

The Home is staffed 24 hours a day by a trained experienced and caring staff team. Arrangements can be made for other specialist staff – for example Community Nurses and Occupational Therapists – to provide services to residents according to their assessed needs. The emphasis of the scheme is to promote the independence of service users, encouraging them to participate in their community and lead satisfying and enriching lives.

The Home complies with all relevant legal requirements including an up to date alarm system with fire doors that close automatically when a fire is detected. All bedrooms comply with the current requirements of the Care Standards Act 2000.

Admission

If you would like to live in Ashley House, a full assessment of your needs will be carried out. Admissions will be planned with the service user and their family, friends or carers as appropriate. Social Services may be involved in the assessment or the arranging of admission. Arrangements can be made for an emergency placement depending on the assessed needs of the service user.
On admission, qualified and experienced staff will work with the service user and other relevant people to produce a written Care Plan which will be reviewed a least annually.

Facilities
The lounge areas and en suite bedrooms are individually decorated and the home incorporates all the features needed to ensure a comfortable environment for older people. There is a lovely garden with lawns and the raised flowerbeds make it easy for residents to do a spot of gardening. A patio area is ideal for sitting and chatting to friends or enjoying a barbecue. We also have our own shop and our own pub – The Dog & Trumpet.

Personal care

Ashley Houseoperates a key worker system and each resident is assigned to a member of staff. They are responsible for supporting and encouraging individuals with every day living skills and carrying out any personal care tasks.

Activities
Service users are encouraged to develop the full range of social activities, hobbies and leisure activities and are encouraged to join/continue visiting clubs and maintain relationships with their friends, family and existing community links. Ashley House has recently employed a dedicated Social Activities Co-ordinator in order to expand the range and frequency of in-house activities and residents are regularly consulted in this regard. Arrangements will be made through the manager for a resident to attend the religious service of their choice.

Resident Involvement
We believe that personal choice is important, which is why we always try and involve residents in the decisions that affect them. Each resident has an individual care plan which we draw up after talking with you, your family or your advisors. Care plans cover the medical, social and emotional needs of the resident, and are regularly reviewed.

Staffing
