Hilltop House is a residential care home which provides accommodation for 12 people. It offers places to adults from the age of 18 to 65, who have a physical disability.
Respite Care admissions are also available for anyone who is cared for at home by unpaid/informal carers. Stays can be from a couple of days or up to two weeks at a time with a maximum of four weeks a year.
Hilltop House aims to offer people with a disability, accommodation and support to enable them to be as self managing as their disability will allow.
Facilities
The house is divided into four units, two with three bedrooms, one with four and a separate two bedded respite care unit.
Each unit is designed to function independently as a small flat, providing a lounge/dining room with TV, a fully adapted kitchen and bathroom.
Each bedroom is comprised of a single bed/sitting room with toilet and wash basin en-suite. Bedrooms are furnished but residents are encouraged to bring in some personal items with them. Each room has a TV and telephone point and residents have their own front door with a letter box and keys.
Surrounding the complex are level pathways leading to each external door and to residents own patio area and personal raised garden.
Activities
Activities are resident led and can be on a group or individual basis. Residents are supported by staff to do whatever activities they would like within reason.
We have a pool table and a variety of games available. There are also table top games, television and video, music tapes and CD's, table tennis and books.
Personal Care
Residents can have, at an extra cost, hairdressing, chiropody, physiotherapy and dental care.
Resident Involvement
We believe that personal choice is important, which is why we always try and involve residents in the decisions that affect them. Each resident has an individual care plan which we draw up after talking with you, your family or
your advisors. Care plans cover the medical, social and emotional needs of the resident and are regularly reviewed.
Staffing
Each unit has a support worker based in it throughout the day. Residents are able to call for support when they need it. Support is also available at night from an awake member of staff with sleep in on hand in case of emergencies.
Support staff are actively encouraged to study for their NVQ in Care.
Each resident has a keyworker who works with them to formulate a plan of care for their individual needs.
Home management is directed by regular meetings with staff and residents with advice form Social Services, Health Services and other agencies.
