Lyons Court is a residential care home registered for 26 older people. The building comprises two floors with a lounge and communal dining rooms. The original “Essex Barn” provides an attractive base for social activities.
The home aims to provide the highest standard of accommodation and professional support to enable residents to maintain their independence for as long as possible in a friendly and relaxed setting.
There are 2 garden areas, where residents can sit and enjoy the weather, the garden behind the barn has an attractive water feature.
There is a parade of shops within a few minutes walk and there is a bus service to Chelmsford, situated by the shops.

Facilities
The home comprises of 26 single bed-sitting rooms with “en-suite” facilities and washbasin. Bedrooms are fully furnished including wardrobe, chest of drawers, bed, bedding and bedside locker, overhead and bedside lighting, seating, carpets and curtains. Residents are encouraged to bring small items to personalise their room and make it homely.
There is a telephone and television arial point in each room.
24 hour support is available and is provided by a professional team with assistance from the local Community Health Care Teams. There is an alarm call system in all bedrooms, ensuite and communal areas to summon assistance.
Staff are available to support residents who need assistance. Specialist equipment is on hand - e.g. baths, showers, hoists, etc, to ensure the most appropriate help is given. Visiting services to the home include, the library, hairdresser, chiropodist, optician and other healthcare professionals. Key working of residents ensures “that personal touch”. Full Hotel and Catering Services are carried are available with a choice of menu daily.
Relatives and friends are always welcome.
Activities
Everyone has the opportunity to participate in the social life of the home. Interests and hobbies are encouraged. There are also various entertainers at Lyons Court on a regular absis for the enjoyment of all residents.
Personal Care
Staff are available to support residents who need assistance. Specialist equipment is on hand – eg baths, showers, hoists etc to ensure the most appropriate help is given. Visitors to the home include a hairdresser and healthcare professionals. Keyworking of residents ensures “that personal touch”. Full hotel and catering services are provided.
Chiropody, dental and optician services are available at an additional charge.
Residents' Involvement
Regular meetings with both residents and relatives along with questionnaires enable direct influence by the residents. The views of visitors, common relatives and friends are always welcome, visits to the home are welcome at reasonable times.
Staffing
All Sanctuary Care Homes are staffed 24 hours a day by suitably trained and experiences nursing and care staff.
All homes employ a head chef and experienced catering and domestic staff.
Staffing levels meet all the requirements set by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI).
