Pennefather Court is a Residential Care Home situated within easy access to the town centre, which has accommodation for 14 clients between the ages of 18 – 65, with Physical Disabilities/ Brain Injury. Pennefather Court is also landlord to 8, single storey, supported living flats, which are situated within the grounds.
The main Home is 2 storeys, with the ground floor living facilities available to the Service Users. It can be described as open plan, in that it has a large dining/communal area which leads to the main kitchen, service user’s bedrooms, kitchenettes – where service users can prepare their own refreshments as required – and a conservatory.
Our aim is to support and encourage each person to be as independent as possible, acknowledging that everyone is an individual.
Our objective is to offer people with a physical disability the freedom and support, physically and emotionally, to enable them to achieve their fullest potential.
Facilities
All residents have their own bedrooms, which they are encouranged to decorate and furnish according to their own tastes. All rooms have washing facilities.
There are 3 wet rooms, all of which have toilet facilities and one bathroom which has a parker bath that can be adjusted to the height of the resident.
There is a laundry room equipped with both washing and drying facilities.
There is a large communal dining area where users can eat their meals should they wish. A kitchenette area is available for residents to prepare their own refreshments.
Residents Involvement
All service Users are encouraged to be actively involved in the day to day operations of the home. Visits by or to relatives, friends and representatives are welcomed, as are their views and opinions.
Activities
All interests and hobbies are encouraged. We try to offer as much choice as we are able, involving the local community where possible, to assist the Service User achieve their preferred lifestyle.
Staffing
Support is provided 24 hours a day by a friendly, experienced staff team. Specialised services can be accessed on recommendation from either the local community team or local GP services. There is an alarm call system for assistance as required. The Key worker system is seen as an opportunity to reflect on personal achievements and encourage Service Users to determine their own lifestyle.
Personal Care
All bedrooms have private washing facilities. In the main bathrooms equipment such as special baths, showers and hoists are provided to ensure the most appropriate help. Healthcare professionals and a hairdresser visit the home regularly.
Meals are prepared on a daily basis as chosen by the Service Users.
Pennefather Court has a fully equipped laundry.
