Bath Rugby stars visiting Sanctuary Care Home

Bath Rugby stars were in the spotlight off the pitch when they were quizzed by residents of Shaftesbury Court, a Sanctuary Care home in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu and Jonny Fa’amatuainu dropped into the home, for adults with physical and learning disabilities, on Thursday for a question and answer session with residents and staff.

Eliota and Jonny were asked about their lives both on and off the pitch and spoke about everything from their diets, training and injuries to their hobbies and being in the public eye. They also signed shirts and programmes and even put their handprints at the top of a rainbow wall of hands at the home.

Resident Claire Smith said: "It was a fantastic day, I really enjoyed it. The guys were really nice.”

Fellow resident Richard Keat added: "It was really good. They were telling us about disabled access at the rugby club. I was amazed at how big and tall they were."

Samoan international Eliota joined Bath Rugby in January 2006 and plays centre and fly-half.

Manu Samoa international Jonny originally joined Bath Rugby as a short-term second row cover, but at the end of the 2005/06 season signed a two-year contract. His position is lock/back row.
