Leading housing provider, Sanctuary Group has purchased a specialist care home for physically disabled adults in Swindon.
Tony Long House has six registered bedrooms for adults aged 18 to 65 in need of long-term care.
With its spacious ground-floor en suite rooms, specialist equipment and gardens, the Casson Road site offers a home from home for its residents.
Although the modern, purpose-built site is already of a high standard, Sanctuary plans to invest a significant amount of capital on additional improvements once it has engaged with the home’s residents.
David Bennett, Sanctuary’s Group Chief Executive said: “We are delighted to acquire such a high profile and well-respected home in Swindon and look forward to continuing to provide the high standard of care that its residents have come to expect.”
The home is situated in the heart of an area called Shaplands, which is made up of 16 bungalows and one house, all owned and managed within Sanctuary Group. Holistic services are provided to residents across the site.
Sanctuary Care, a subsidiary of Sanctuary Group, will manage the home, providing specialist support to its residents. Sanctuary Group also provide home care support to residents in the surrounding bungalows.
The site was previously owned by the TADSA Housing Trust and managed by Swindon Borough Council.
The Trust, chaired by Tony Long MBE, intends to put the funds received from the disposal of the site into a trust, from which grants can be made to disabled individuals and disability groups in Swindon and District to acquire essential equipment.
Mr Long said: “Many disabled people cannot get what they require, so we are setting up a trust to help those people.”
The purchase of Tony Long House by Sanctuary Groups follows the acquisition of Beach Lawns Nursing and Residential Home in Weston-super-Mare earlier this month.
