Shaftesbury Court, Manor Close is a registered care home offering residential care for 18 people with physical and learning disabilities in a comfortable modern setting.
The emphasis of the scheme is to promote the independence of residents encouraging them to participate in their community and lead satisfying and enriching lives.
Facilities
Shaftesbury Court, Manor Close provides ground floor accommodation and is totally wheelchair assessable. There are four wing areas to the scheme. Each wing area has four bedrooms and its own kitchen-dining facilities. These areas are called: Chaffinch. Flamingo, Robin and Swan.
There is also a 2 bedroom registered detached bungalow which is called Kingfisher.
Each room has its own vanitory unit and a shared bathroom/toilet facility. There are 4 bathrooms / toilets, 2 bathrooms have shower facilities. The bungalow has 1 bathroom and 2 toilets.
In total there are 18 bedrooms at Shaftesbury Court. All bedrooms are single with at least 10 sqm usable space, or additional compensatory space.
There is a central kitchen and laundry, large communal lounge facilities with outside gardens and patio.
Staffing
The Home is staffed 24 hours a day by a trained experienced and caring staff team. Arrangements can be made for other specialist staff – for example Community Nurses and Occupational Therapists – to provide services to residents according to their assessed needs.
Personal Care
Shaftesbury Court, Manor Close operates a key worker system and each resident is assigned to a member of staff. They are responsible for supporting and encouraging individuals with every day living skills and carrying out any personal care tasks
Activities
Service users are encouraged to develop the full range of social activities, hobbies and leisure activities through attending college courses, joining clubs and maintaining relationships with their friends, family and existing community links. Arrangements will be made for a resident to attend the religious service of their choice. We also provide a service called “Target” which is a twice weekly creative group which does art, crafts, health, exercise and trips.
Residents' Involvement
Regular meetings are held with both residents and staff. The views of visitors, common relatives and friends are always welcome; visits to the home are welcome at reasonable times.
