Shaftesbury Place, Marsland Road is a unit which offers ground floor accommodation for 16 young adults with a physical disability (For this service we are Registered and Inspected by the CSCI). On the first floor there are flats for those wishing to live more independently.
The home aims to provide the highest standard of accommodation and professional support to enable residents to be as independent as possible, acknowledging that every one is an individual.
Facilities
There are 16 bedrooms divided into four units. Each unit’s accommodation includes a lounge/diner, kitchen, bathroom (three with Parker Baths (one has a Jacuzzi facility) and a separate toilet. A central laundry is accessible for people’s use. Residents are encouraged to decorate and furnish to their taste. There is also one bedsit on first floor. Externally there is parking available and the unit is surrounded by landscaped gardens.
Activities
Everyone has the opportunity to participate in the social life of the home. Interests and hobbies are encouraged. Day Centres and Local Colleges are encouraged.
Staffing
24 hr support is available and is provided by a professional team with assistance from the Local Healthcare Teams. There is an alarm call system to summon assistance as required.
Personal Care
Staff are available to support residents who need assistance. Specialist equipment is on hand – e.g. baths, showers, hoists etc. to ensure the most appropriate help is given. Visitors to the home include healthcare professionals. There is a Key working system for residents in operation. Residents plan/buy/cook their own food. This promotes independence and choice.
Residents' Involvement
House – Meetings are run by the residents on a Bi – Monthly Basis. The views of visitors, common relatives and friends are always welcome, visits to the home are welcome at reasonable times.
