Southwood House is a unit which offers ground floor accommodation for 14 adults with a physical disability.
Our aim is to support and encourage each person to be as independent as possible acknowledging that everyone is an individual. We achieve this by giving freedom of choice and individual packages of care.
Facilities
Our facilities offer totally self-contained flats with modern kitchens containing washing machines / dryer’s cookers and microwaves to enable residents to retain life skills.
A cooked meal is provided at lunchtime each day with support given for additional meals as required. A full laundry service is provided if required.
Activities
A varity of activities is arranged for residents and everyone has the opportunity to participate. Residents are also encouraged to attend local collages to support their hobbies and interests. I.e. computer, art etc
Staffing
24 hr support is available and is provided by a professional team. There is a call system to summon assistance as required.
Staffing levels meet all the requirements set by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI).
Personal care
Staff are available to support residents with all personal care as specified in their care plan, respecting residents privacy and dignity.
Additional services
We have our own physiotherapist who spends one afternoon per week in the home. Further educational opportunities can be pursued through the local colleges. We have two specially adapted mini-busses to assist with transportation at a cost to residents. We have excellent working relationships with local G.P. practices, District Nurses and Occupational Therapists.
Residents involvement
Residents are encouraged to take an active part in the running of the home through resident’s meetings, involvement in recruitment of staff and th rou gh service questionnaires. Views of friends, visitors professionals are also encouraged.
