St Johns House is is a Residential Care Home for 20 Elders. We provide a ''Home for Life" within a warm, caring Christian environment. We aim to enable our Service Users to live their lives to its full potential, treating them with respect and dignity at all times. We provide them with privacy, freedom of choice and involve them making in making decisions concerning their rights, personal welfare and the running of the home.

The Home has 20 single bedrooms with en-suite facilities.
St Johns House is comprised of 5 floors. Four floors accommodate our service users and are accessible by lifts. It is situated in a central position overlooking the Common and the main high road. There is a good view of the comings and goings of daily livelihood. Users find this very therapeutic.

We aim to provide 24 hours support for people over the age of 60 years.

We aim to give people the opportunity to live as members of the local community, in ways which are ordinary and valued, aiming to maintain and increase their level of independence.

Activities

Service user’s social needs are discussed individually by key workers when care plans are being formulated and at reviews. Group activities are promoted and discussed at meetings and arrangements made according to choice. Connections with the club at the local Baptist Church, the Friendly Club provide activities for those who attend. Special Party Celebrations at Birthdays are encouraged. The receives a wide range of information of local activities from various sources and a variety of performers entertainers. Parties, outings, musicals, sing- a-long are arranged by the homes staff. Reminiscence sessions are conducted in the home periodically.

  • A hairdresser visits every 2 weeks.
  • Mobile clothes stores visit.


Personal care

Service users are assisted with personal care as assessed prior to their admission and during their stay at the home, reviews will be carried out and needs met accordingly. However, service users are encouraged to be as independent as possible.


Resident Involvement
We believe that personal choice is important, which is why we always try and involve residents in the decisions that affect them. Each resident has an individual care plan which we draw up after talking with you, your family or your advisors. Care plans cover the medical, social and emotional needs of the resident, and are regularly reviewed.


Staffing
All Sanctuary Care Homes are staffed 24 hours a day by suitably trained and experiences nursing and care staff.

All homes employ a head chef and experienced catering and domestic staff.

Staffing levels meet all the requirements set by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI).
