The Winsor is a fine old Victorian building that has recently undergone extensive refurbishment.  Formerly, one of the largest hotels in the area with 31 ensuite bedrooms, it is now the largest and most prestigious nursing home in the area. All the original features have been retained throughout.

Accommodation is of the highest standard with excellent views over the sea and towards the hills that surround Minehead.  There are, in addition to the main dining facilities, four resident’s lounges, the main lounge opening on to the Avenue.  At the Winsor we specialise in providing long term care for the elderly, although we are equally happy to offer short term places to those who are either convalescing or in need of respite care.

Activities
Regular entertainment includes bingo, cards, visiting theatrical groups and concerts. Our activities organiser also works with the residents to plan outings to the seaside and special days where we enjoy a trip on the steam railway from Minehead to Bishops Lydiard, not to mention a delicious cream tea! These are great days out and you are always welcome to come along and enjoy the experience. Transport links are excellent and there is a small car park to the rear of the home.

 Resident Involvement
We believe that personal choice is important, which is why we always try and involve residents in the decisions that affect them. Each resident has an individual care plan which we draw up after talking with you, your family or your advisors. Care plans cover the medical, social and emotional needs of the resident, and are regularly reviewed.

Staffing
All Sanctuary Care Homes are staffed 24 hours a day by suitably trained and experiences nursing and care staff.

All homes employ a head chef and experienced catering and domestic staff.

Staffing levels meet all the requirements set by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI).
