Resident Involvement

Sanctuary Hereward is committed to making it easier for residents to make their voices count in the way we provide services. 'Our Commitment to resident involvement' is an agreement between Sanctuary Hereward and our residents that sets out ways in which residents and leaseholders can influence decisions at Sanctuary Hereward.

Residents Forum

Sanctuary Hereward has a Residents Forum who meets regularly throughout the year to put forward their suggestions and recommendations to Sanctuary Hereward about different aspects of our service. Residents views, through the Residents Forum, have already shaped the way we plan to let homes, our customer promise, our compensation policy, the way we manage and maintain your homes, how you can get involved, how we design new homes and in choosing contractors to carry out repairs to your home.

There are 18 places on the Residnets Forum for Sanctuary Hereward residents. The Forum nominates representatives to Sanctuary Hereward’s board and committees. Two of the board’s twelve members must be tenants. More tenants can be members of Sanctuary Hereward’s various committees.

If you would like to know more about the Residents Forum or are interested in becoming a member of the Forum please contact Sancutary Hereward’s community initiatives manager on 0845 850 57 57.

Training Opportunities

To support resident involvement at Sanctuary Hereward, actively involved residents have the chance to take part in training events and networking opportunities throughout the year. These range from ‘in house’ training where specialist trainers come to Sanctuary Hereward, national conferences and regional training courses.

Training opportunities cover topics such as ‘Resident Participation Compacts’ to ‘Being a Better Chair’ and ‘Making meetings work for me’.

These training opportunities are at no cost to our residents and includes the payment of any childcare or other care costs and travel expenses.

Resident Inspectors

Who are Resident Inspectors?
Resident Inspectors are residents who work with Sanctuary Hereward to give a residents’ perspective of the services we provide at our housing schemes. Resident Inspectors take part in a planned programme of visits to carry out interviews, discussions and observations. Full training is provided and all reasonable expenses are paid.

How does it work?
Resident Inspectors record their observations and discussions and report their findings to Sanctuary Hereward. Resident Inspectors then work with Sanctuary Hereward to put forward their suggestions to improve the services we provide.

Resident Inspectors work in groups of a minimum of two and no more than three people.

Who can be a Resident Inspector?

  • You are a current Sanctuary Hereward resident
  • You live in the type of accommodation being inspected
  • You are not an Sanctuary Hereward employee
  • You do not have a current court order against you for breach of tenancy

How can I get involved?
To find out more information about Resident Inspectors and any other ways you can get involved with Sanctuary Hereward, or if you would like a copy of ‘Our Commitment to Resident Involvement’, please contact our community initiatives manager on 0845 850 57 57.
