What is Sanctuary Hereward’s relationship to Sanctuary Housing Association?
Sanctuary Hereward is a member of Sanctuary Housing Group and now manages over 2,300 Sanctuary owned homes in the East of England. We are working together to build many more affordable homes for rent and shared ownership in the region.

Who can apply for housing?
Sanctuary Hereward’s housing for rent is aimed at helping people who are not able to buy their own home, or to rent one privately. To make sure we offer homes to those who need affordable housing we carry out a means test. We aim to make sure everyone has equal access to housing. All applicants are treated fairly irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, religious beliefs or political views. You can apply on your own or jointly as a couple. Normally you must be over 18 years old to be able to apply to rent a home from us.
For homes owned by Sanctuary Hereward in East Cambridgeshire we have an ‘open waiting list’ which means you do not already have to live in East Cambridgeshire to be able to apply; you can live anywhere in the country.

We also have shared ownership homes as well as leasehold properties. We own houses, flats and bungalows suitable for families, single people, couples and older people.

What supported housing does Sanctuary Hereward own?
Sanctuary Hereward has the proud reputation of being an excellent provider of housing for older people. Our sheltered housing and extra care schemes give homes to over 1,000 people in the region with the added security of having an on-site scheme manager. Social Services also provide assessed care for tenants living at the extra care schemes.
Every property has an alarm system, which alerts help in case of an emergency. This service is now available to anyone living in or near the borders of East Cambridgeshire.
