A Christmas Carol

More than 200 residents and guests attended the Hereward carol services this year.

The annual services are held at St Mary’s Church, opposite the Hereward office in Ely and have always proved popular.

This year, pupils from two Ely schools, Spring Meadow Infants and Nursery and St Mary’s Junior, entertained the congregation with a seasonal musical interlude.

Picture shows Canon Fred Kilner talks to the Mayor of Ely, Councillor John Ison (right) at one of the services where Board Member Mike Bunting (far left) read one of the lessons.

Canon Fred Kilner conducted the services on 11 and 12 December and which featured biblical readings from Hereward staff and Board and Committee Members as well as many well known carols including God Rest You Merry Gentleman and Silent Night.

And after the services residents were able to enjoy a welcome cup of tea and a seasonal mince pie served by Hereward staff.
