Birds of a feather

Wildlife enthusiasts at a housing scheme in Bury St Edmunds can now enjoy their hobby even more. Magna House has 22 properties, mainly for single people, and also has a garden at the rear which is well populated by wildlife.

Resident caretaker, Dan Jee, a keen wildlife enthusiast, said: “We see a lot of birds in the garden and I contacted Suffolk Wildlife Trust and asked what we could do to encourage them.”
Dan added: “They suggested bat boxes because it is near to bat caves but also general bird boxes which I thought was a good idea.”

Hereward manages Magna House for Sanctuary Housing and donated £50 to buy the boxes which residents helped to assemble and fix in the trees in the garden
One resident, Robin Bates, said: “I get a lot of pleasure out of wildlife. My flat looks right out onto the garden and I am delighted the boxes are in place.”
