Michelle Pilborough, Hereward’s Home Ownership Service Manager, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for couples or single people to get onto the housing ladder and secure a new home in the prominent location of East Cambridgeshire.”
Buyers would pay £47,500 and £62,500 respectively for the one and two bedroomed properties with a monthly rent of between £130 and £150.
To be eligible for the scheme prospective buyers would need an income of about £17,000 a year.
There are also eight homes to rent and two homes have been reserved for key workers such as police officers and health workers.
Hereward originally acquired the land from the Church Commissioners in 1996 and completed the first phase in August 1997. The latest phase is a partnership between Hereward and East Cambridgeshire District Council planners and housing department.
The flats are arranged in groups of four and each home has an individual entrance and own gated garden with a secure shed and water butt. Flats have been carpeted throughout and there are 20 dedicated parking spaces together with six spaces for visitors.
