More houses are let
 
Almost 350 people were housed by Hereward in a 12 month period, according to figures just released. The average time taken to let our homes after they have been empty has also improved.

The latest figures also gave details of how we responded to calls for emergency, urgent and routine repairs to properties.

During the year April 2005-March 2006 we housed 343 people. We let 118 homes to the homeless, 47 to people who were on our transfer list and 176 to people from our waiting list. We also received two nominations from outside the area.

The average time taken to let empty homes has improved steadily from 2.38 weeks for general housing in April 2005 to 1.92 weeks by March this year.

The time for supported housing re-lets went down from two weeks in April 2005 to 1.33 weeks in March. The average for all lettings was 2.31 weeks.

Alan Lewin, the Director of Operations (pictured above), said: “These results show we are making good progress in cutting the time in takes to let our properties and that we are providing homes for almost 350 people every year.”

The figures also reveal how our staff dealt with 3,010 Emergency repair calls from April 2005 to March 2006 where our response time is four hours and 94% of those calls were completed in time.

There were also 4,708 urgent repair calls needing a response within seven calendar days and 86.7% of those calls were completed in time.

In addition, there were 9,568 Routine repair calls to be where work should be done within 28 calendar days and 92.1% of these were completed in time.
In the same period we also spent an average of £474 per property on repairs.

Alan Lewin, the Director of Operations, said: “These results show we are making good progress in cutting the time in takes to let our properties and that we are providing homes for almost 350 people every year.”
He added: “Next year, we shall be aiming to improve our performance on our response repairs service whilst maintaining, or improving, our other services to residents.”
