Homes for those in need

Hereward Housing has bought 22 new homes from developer Goymour Homes and all are expected to be available in 2007.

The 22 homes are part of a larger development of 66 homes at Aspal Park, Beck Row, Mildenhall and were built as a result of planning conditions imposed on Goymour by Forest Heath District Council.

The homes were bought to help Hereward towards their target of providing hundreds of new affordable homes every year by 2008.

Mark Newstead, Hereward’s Director of Business Development, said: “We want to reflect the housing needs of the communities we serve.”

He added: “We are aiming to provide between 300 and 400 new affordable homes each year by 2008 and the homes at Beck Row were bought to meet increasing demand in the area.”

A £1.7 million development brings much needed housing to an area of need.

The scheme has been part funded by the Housing Corporation and the homes have been designed to a high environmental standard. All are carpeted throughout with vinyl flooring in the kitchens and bathrooms.

In addition the homes all have UPVC windows, fitted kitchens, shower, off road parking and oil central heating.

Of the 22 properties, 14 will be available for rent – four one bedroom flats, five two bedroom houses, four three bedroom houses and one four bedroom house.

The remaining eight homes, four two and three bedroom houses, will be available for shared ownership. Local people with a housing need will be nominated to Hereward for the homes.
