Extra Care scheme underway in Exning

Work is due to start on site on our sixth extra care scheme for frail older people in Exning,
Suffolk this September. The contractor for the £4.5 million development is currently being selected following an EU Procurement tender process.

Work has now started on our first developments to include Key Worker housing.  Houses and flats for rent and shared ownership are underway at Clayway in Ely, on a site adjacent to rented homes Hereward built in 1997.

New housing at The Brook in Sutton will also provide a mix of rented, shared ownership and Key Worker housing.

£4.5 million development

A former allotment site in Isleham is currently being developed to provide houses for rent and shared ownership. Due to the location of the site, an archaeological dig was carried out before work could begin. Among various finds were medieval and post medieval pieces of pottery as well as a bone flute. The finds are now with the Cambridgeshire County Archaeology Store at the County Council.

Homes for rent are also underway at Queens Gardens, Wisbech and at Aldreth Road in Haddenham.

All the new homes are due to be ready in 2006. Anyone interested in the shared ownership or Key Worker housing is encouraged to get in touch with the Development Team on 0845 850 57 57 or email enquiries@herewardhousing.org.uk
