The benefits of CFLs are numerous:
- They last up to 15 times longer than standard light bulbs
- They use up to 80 per cent less electricity than standard light bulbs
- The lamps can be used to replace existing 100 watt light bulbs
- A low energy lamp used for 50 hours costs less than seven pence
- Savings between £5 and £10 per year can be achieved for each lamp fitted.
Sanctuary's subsidiary offices have been supplied with CFLs to be installed in vacant properties prior to re-letting and they are also made available free of charge to tenants who wish to collect them from the Association’s offices.
