Pound Farm in Gorsley is a supported housing scheme on the outskirts of Ross-On-Wye. Sanctuary Housing Association is working with managing agents, Salters Hill Trust, to install and evaluate renewable energy systems.
To date, we have installed new UPVC double glazing windows and doors and increased the amount of loft insulation. External wall insulation has also been installed on the farm house.
Other energy saving options have been considered such as Ground Source Heat Pumps and Solar Water Heating, although it was recognised that these measures were impractical. Wind turbines were also abandoned as Pound Farm is located in an area, where there would not be enough wind to generate sufficient levels of electricity. The use of Rainwater Harvesting to provide water to the site is still being considered.
