The aim of Beth Johnson’s Home Improvement Agency (HIA) is to assist clients who may be elderly, disabled or on low incomes, who may live in deteriorating properties, to assist with repairs or adaptations.
Many people in these user groups may dread the disruption repair work being carried out, or not be able to afford the costs, and living in deteriorating conditions can ultimately have an adverse effect on people’s health and quality of life. Beth Johnson’s HIA team are experienced in working with a diverse selection of people with housing problems. They are used to advising clients on how to get necessary repairs or adaptations carried out on their homes, with as little disruption as possible.

The HIA also provide a ‘handyperson’ service for older people. The HIA team can assist in finding suitable contractors and getting a quote for work, supervising the work while on site and negotiating with both contractors and funders. HIA staff can help people write letters and fill in forms e.g. on benefit entitlements/claims and refer clients to other agencies if appropriate.
