Gas Safety in your home
Remember, you, your family and neighbours could be at risk from carbon monoxide poisoning if your appliances, flue or ventilation are not working properly so it is essential that they are regularly maintained by properly trained gas engineers.
Once a year we will arrange for a specially qualified gas engineer to visit your home and check that Sanctuary owned appliances are working correctly and are safe to use. All of our engineers are registered with ‘Gas Safe’, the new registration body response for this work.
We will write to you explaining that your service is due and will include an appointment time. If this appointment is not convenient you can contact us to arrange a more suitable time.
Sanctuary’s Gas Compliance Team can be contacted on:
Tel: 0800 288 9289 or 0121 569 8805
Or you can speak to your regional team using one of the numbers lower down this page.
What to do if you suspect a gas leak?
- If possible, turn off the gas supply at the meter immediately
- Extinguish all sources of ignition/naked flames
- Do not smoke
- Do not operate any electrical switches, telephones or mobiles
- Ventilate the building by opening all doors and windows and ensure access to the property is possible
- Vacate the premises
If it is safe to do so (ideally using a neighbour’s phone or your mobile outside the house) contact TRANSCO, the emergency services for gas, on Freephone 0800 111 999
After you have done this please inform Sanctuary’s Customer Service Centre at your local office - see numbers below.
