David Blunkett MP visited Sanctuary's new show home at Shiregreen, Sheffield, in September to learn more about the Association’s proposed improvement plans for the estate. Sanctuary is the preferred landlord for the possible transfer of approximately 2,600 homes on the estate, subject to the result of a ballot of residents later this year.
Mr Blunkett, who is MP for Sheffield Brightside and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, learned first hand about the dramatic transformation that has taken place at 26 Concord Road. The show home has been modernised to give residents an insight into what their homes could look like if the proposal goes ahead.
Residents chatted with Mr Blunkett and told him how impressed they were with the quality of the work that had been done. A new kitchen, bathroom, internal and external doors, wiring and energy efficient heating systems are just some of the improvements that have been carried out to the show home. Mr Blunkett thanked everyone for coming out to meet him on such a wet Saturday morning and after having some photographs taken, went off to his MP's surgery at Firth Park Library.
