How long is the waiting list?

Our waiting list varies from area to area. We propose publicising our waiting lists in the future but in the meantime, please contact your regional office who will be able to advise you on waiting list times for different areas.

Can I buy a Sanctuary home?
In addition to providing social housing at affordable rents, Sanctuary Housing Group operate schemes that provide homes for sale. These are known as shared ownership. The schemes include homes for first time buyers, people who have experienced a relationship breakdown, homes for the over 55s and private retirement schemes. Contact your nearest regional office for details of properties in your area.

Your responsibilities as a tenant
When tenants sign their Tenancy Agreement, they are legally bound by that agreement. They are also responsible for the behaviour of their visitors and children.

If a tenant or any of their visitors breach the terms of the tenancy we can take action against the tenant.

Your responsibilities as a leaseholder
Leaseholders are provided with a Homeowners' Handbook and this gives a general breakdown of your responsibilities and ours. The lease is the legal agreement that we have with you, and should be referred to if there are any disputes/issues.

Can you end my tenancy?
We can only end your tenancy by getting a court order should you break the terms of your tenancy agreement. These are the most common reasons for breaking the terms of your agreement:

  • Not paying your rent
  • Not keeping the accommodation in good condition
  • You, a member of your family, or someone visiting your home has been guilty of anti-social behaviour.
