I joined Sanctuary as an HR Administrator in October 2003 following an application lodged during an open day in their Worcester Head Office. I had heard via friends that they were a good company to work for and was delighted when they offered me the job.
As an Administrator I looked after the admin for Sanctuary Care which included applying for CRB checks and sending out contracts for members of staff in Sanctuary Care’s 14 Care Homes. I also applied for work permits and visas for our overseas staff.
Since this I started this role the Sanctuary group has grown rapidly and there are now over 50 Care Homes in its portfolio. In June 2007 I was promoted to HR Team Leader and I now oversee both the Sanctuary Care and Sanctuary Housing admin teams.
My varied workload means that I have developed a good knowledge of HR procedures and practices. Sanctuary are excellent at encouraging staff to develop their careers and this is underpinned by good quality training and support. I have recently taken my final exam of the 3 year CIPD course at Worcester College of Technology. The course was funded by Sanctuary and has allowed me to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to help me in my role as the company has grown.
The recent growth of Sanctuary has brought fresh challenges and means there is always something new to learn and new people to meet.
I really enjoy my role within Sanctuary. As well as enjoying the role itself, Sanctuary offers good opportunities for career progression and a good environment to work in. I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of joining.
