Financial inclusion

We aim to ensure that our residents are able to access the basic financial services products that are needed to participate in a modern society.  We are particularly interested in projects which promote routes to local services that offer impartial financial advice, guidance and support to build people’s  confidence to manage their money and make informed financial choices.

Case study: PennySmart Project – Blacon - Rayleigh

Project Aim

To help residents in Blacon, Chester, reduce their debts and learn how to manage money differently to avoid getting into financial difficulties.

PennySmart has helped 50 people in Blacon reduce their collective debts by over £58,000 in the space of a year.

PennySmart offers people advice on how to deal with debt and how to manage money to avoid getting into financial difficulties.

Chris Leicester, Sanctuary’s Neighbourhood Partnerships Manager, said:

“The financial well-being of residents is of utmost importance to us and PennySmart’s continued success through its various programmes has helped us address this significantly.

“The results have been tangible, effective and sustained.”
