Residents across Hackney with an idea for a business or local project are being given the chance to win £500 worth of support to get their plans off the ground.
Sanctuary Housing and Hackney Homes have teamed up to launch the ‘Enterprize’ scheme. Targeting residents aged 13 to 25, the scheme will assist three lucky winners in bringing to life projects to benefit the local community.
Examples of support could include setting up a website, help with training course fees or professional photography for the business
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their idea to a panel of judges - Dragon’s Den style – made up of professionals from housing associations, local government, charity and private organisations.
Sanctuary Housing’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, Jo Revett, said: “We look forward to receiving entries from young people demonstrating their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. We hope that Enterprize will not only enable some great projects to get off the ground but also support young people to develop their skills and career aspirations.”
Cabinet Member for Housing in Hackney, Cllr Philip Glanville, added: “This scheme recognises the talented young people in our borough and is an exciting opportunity to encourage them to make their dreams become a reality. We continue to support our young residents through various initiatives.”
Closing date for all applications is Friday 27 February.
A celebration event will be held in March where the winners will be announced and to recognise those who have been shortlisted.
