A helping hand for community projects in Chester

Sanctuary Housing is offering funding to support projects that will make a difference to the lives of Chester residents and the communities where they live.

Grants of up to £1,000 are available from Sanctuary’s Chester Community Chest fund, to help charities, individuals and community groups deliver activities and initiatives.

Projects must benefit Chester residents and have a community focus, and successful applications will fit one or more of Sanctuary’s priorities for the fund:

  • Building connections and reducing isolation
  • Increasing skills and employability
  • Growing neighbourhood pride and community safety
  • Helping residents better manage their money
  • Sustainable lifestyles and greener living

Sanctuary is keen to receive applications from resident and community groups, individuals, registered charities, schools, councils or social enterprises.

The Chester Community Chest has previously supported a diverse array of projects, including the provision of healthy school holiday activities for local children and working with community interest company Healthbox to deliver free strength and balance classes for older residents.

Ria Burns, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, said: “Our communities are at the heart of everything we do and the Chester Community Chest is a wonderful opportunity for us to support projects that have a positive impact and help our residents live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives.

“We’re looking forward to hearing from groups and individuals who share those goals and can help us to make a real positive difference.”
