A group of Banbury residents have won an award that celebrates achievements in their community.
The group are all friends who live at Levenot Close, one of our Housing for Older People schemes.
They won the ‘Good Neighbour’ award at the Cherwell Awards for their efforts in looking out for each other, and their community, during the pandemic.
Before Covid, the group met regularly for coffee and chats and were determined to continue to meet safely outdoors during the national lockdowns.
Having bought themselves a gazebo, not only could they continue their weekly coffee meet ups but they were also able to meet for Friday evening supper. They made an effort to check that everyone was OK during the lockdowns and helped out with each other’s shopping when someone needed help.
They’ve all said how much they value their local community and the friendships that have formed as a result.
