Award-winning programme celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

Sanctuary employee, Hannah Flemming, experiences the role of a hands-on apprenticeship at a Sanctuary Supported Living scheme.

We have celebrated National Apprenticeship Week by giving one of our employees the opportunity to experience an exciting new work placement.

Twenty-year-old Hannah Hammond, who joined us back in July 2013, jumped at the chance to experience a day as a care worker at a local Sanctuary Supported Living scheme.

Hannah experienced a hands-on approach to life at Montague Road Nursing Home, a supported living scheme which cares for adults with mental health needs.

Hannah Hammond said: “I was really excited to help Sanctuary promote apprentice opportunities for National Apprenticeships Week, whilst widening my own skills within the Group.

“I was very keen to work within a supported scheme as I thoroughly enjoy working with residents and I’m very happy to have the opportunity to see what other services we offer.”

Beverley Farnish, deputy manager at Montague Road Nursing Home, added: “It’s fantastic that we were able to get involved in this year’s National Apprenticeships Week, as it recognises that apprenticeships help people like Hannah to find direction and nurture talent in a range of industries.”

Established in 2007, Sanctuary Group’s nationwide apprenticeship programme offers roles in a range of business areas including finance, IT, business administration, health, social care, housing, maintenance operations and horticulture. The national programme has recently been named by The Guardian, in partnership with City & Guilds, as a Top 100 Apprentice employer for the second year running.
