School may be out for summer a little longer, but families in Bicester are invited to go back to an old school site for one more action-packed day in August.
The Bicester Old School Re:Play Day, with funding from Sanctuary Housing, Cherwell District Council and Bicester Healthy New Towns, will be hosted by OYAP Trust at Studi02 - formerly St Edburg’s Primary School on Cemetery Road.
The free event, organised by Oxfordshire Play Association (OPA), will run between 11am and 3pm on Tuesday 28 August and will offer plenty of activities designed to keep families fit and healthy.
Youth Activators will be encouraging children to try new sports in the health zone, where refreshing smoothies will be blended by pedal power on the smoothie bike.
People are welcome to give traditional Scottish Ceilidh dancing a go, along with finger printing and DIY face painting.
Kate Winstanley, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, said: “We work in collaboration with our partners several times a year to deliver community-led play days across the area. I’m sure this will be another success.”
Martin Gillett, manager of OPA, said: “Play days are always well attended and a great day out for both kids and parents. They are an opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles and physical activity through fun.”
There will be no childcare or parking available but families are invited to arrive on foot or bike and bring a picnic.
This project is part-funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
