Sanctuary Housing has embarked on a major refurbishment programme to bring bungalows in Banbury back into use.

Sanctuary’s in-house maintenance team is renovating 21 properties in Banesberie Close after the social housing provider took ownership of them from Lambeth Borough Council.

The work will see new kitchens, bathrooms, doors, windows, fascias and guttering fitted as well as the installation of new electrical and heating systems.

Fifteen of the bungalows are currently empty and once finished will be made available for affordable rent. Residents living in the other six homes will be decanted in order for work to be carried out.

Victoria Prentis MP met with Sanctuary Group Chief Executive Craig Moule and local councillors at Banesberie Close to view progress and talk with residents.

She said: “I am delighted to see the investment Sanctuary is making in these properties which will provide high-quality homes for local people. Residents living in the area are equally as pleased to see the works taking place and I look forward to seeing the bungalows when they are completed.”

Craig Moule added: “Investments such as these are integral to Sanctuary’s social purpose of providing high-quality affordable housing in communities across the country that meets the needs of local people.”

Resident Helen Cassidy, who has transferred into one of the recently completed properties, commented: “My bungalow is everything I could have wished for. It is exactly what I needed and I am really grateful for Sanctuary’s support.”
