Chester residents can sign up for free digital training

2 December 2016

Sanctuary Housing residents in Chester will have the opportunity to take advantage of the online world through a new free digital training course being made available to the local community.

Free digital training

In partnership with We Are Digital, Sanctuary Housing is delivering a six session course as part of its Sanctuary Online initiative, starting on Thursday 15 December, at the Lache Community Centre.

Open to adults of all ages and skill levels, the course will cover multiple subjects including understanding the desktop, internet basics, sending and receiving emails, online shopping and safety, how to use Word, CV writing and finding work online.

Statistics show that 12.6 million people in Britain did not have access to the internet in 2015.

Sanctuary Online

Over the next 12 months, Sanctuary Online aims to train and support around 700 residents across the country with using online services.

As part of the programme, there is also a City and Guilds qualification available for residents who want to use the training to improve their employability skills.

“Gain access to a whole range of opportunities”

Michele Payne, Sanctuary’s resident involvement manager in Chester, said: “We are living in an increasingly digital age and are delighted to be able to bring this training course to our residents in Chester. The sessions will not only allow them to gain valuable new skills and gain access to a whole range of opportunities, but will also increase their confidence with using technology that has many exciting benefits.”

We Are Digital
