Children sing at carol service for retirement living scheme

18 December 2015

Talented young singers from a school in Hockley have been spreading Christmas cheer performing a special carol service for a retirement living scheme.

Residents from Rochford Housing’s Rupert Jarvis Court were treated to the performance from Year 4 pupils at Plumberow Primary Academy.

The annual carol service included festive numbers such as Away in a Manger and We Wish You a Merry Christmas, with residents also holding a collection and donating £75 to the school for their library area.

George Richards, resident, was also celebrating his birthday and had an extra special present as his granddaughter was one of the youngsters singing.

He commented: “The carol concert was very enjoyable and I was very pleased that my granddaughter was also there. I especially enjoyed having Happy Birthday sung to me.”

Plumberow Primary has also sung at care homes in the area, as well as at the Hockley Christmas Lights Switch On.
