Paignton residents are invited to come together for a fun day showcasing the youth services on offer at a revamped community centre.
The facilities for young people available at Great Parks Community Centre – which are supported by Sanctuary Housing and include sports sessions and family workshops – will be demonstrated at the event on Wednesday 30 August.
Taking place from 12 noon to 4pm, all residents are welcome to come along to find out more, and join in with the exciting activities taking place on the day which will include a bouncy castle, photo booth, tombola, face painting, hook a duck and lots more.
The fun day comes after the centre received a new lease of life through an extensive refurbishment earlier in the year. Supported by Sanctuary, improvements included the creation of new communal zones, comprising a café, an IT suite and a chill out area.
Further works involved decoration throughout, the installation of a reception desk and a new office space, which now forms the base for local youth support service So-Fly.
Jenny Day, chair of the Great Parks Community Association, said: “The fun day will be a great way to welcome people into the centre and showcase the services we offer to support local young people. All residents are welcome to come along, no matter what their age!”
Lynne Roberts, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, added: “Community-led projects like the Great Parks Community Centre are essential for addressing the needs of our residents and, with it being a vital hub for everyone, the improvements that have been made will make a huge difference. The fun day offers a fantastic opportunity to bring even more young people in to see what’s on offer.”
