Festive fun was had as residents of the Morningside estate in Hackney came together to enjoy their annual Christmas party.
Organised by Morningside Tenants and Residents’ Association, with support from Sanctuary Housing, the event took place at Morningside Community Centre, in Cresset Road, with more than 100 people of all ages attending.
They enjoyed music, games and a traditional Christmas lunch, generously provided by the Tesco superstore in Hackney.
Meals were served up by volunteers from the local community and there were chocolates and some early Christmas presents for all the children who attended.
Nicolette Nixon, chair of Morningside Tenants and Residents’ Association, said: “The Christmas party is a chance for residents to come together and enjoy a real seasonal celebration.
“We were delighted that so many people attended and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the event and to the residents who volunteered their time to help make it such a success.”
Toby Moore, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager, added: “The Morningside Christmas Party is a wonderful social occasion that always gets everyone into the festive spirit.
“We’re delighted to be able to support the residents’ association with events like this and the valuable work it is carrying out for people in the local community.”
This project was part-funded by Sanctuary’s Community Investment Fund, supporting projects which benefit Sanctuary residents and their communities.
